New research has shown that a significant percentage of online sales occur later in the evening, after we’ve all been drinking. Sites like E-Bay have been reporting that the majority of their sales occur between the hours of 6:30pm and 10:30pm in each time zone, given us all plenty of time to get home from work and have a cocktail or two before we start shopping.
Drinking definitely helps me to play a little more fast and loose with my wallet… although usually the bartender is the beneficiary in that situation, not E-Bay. Drunk shopping happens to all of us… and retailers are happy to help us out by adding extra sales and incentives during our tippling time.
Are you prone to drunk shopping? Do you think this is a real trend or just a freakish coincidence?
